About Us
The Appalachian Center for Mountain Winegrowing provides an outreach program targeting all new and existing U.S. vineyards and wineries operating at elevations greater than 1600 feet and/or on slopes greater than 30%. With its ideal mountain location, the Center is also establishing high elevation and steep slope research vineyards to put the technology and techniques now used in Europe to the test. And with its growing library of mountain and steep slope resources, it offers users the opportunity to learn from those who have done it in the past. Even though Europe has already been able to adopt effective growing and winemaking practices, these practices must be tested here in the U.S. to determine which ones can be adapted effectively to the growing conditions in the U.S.
