Services

The Appalachian Center for Mountain Winegrowing reaches out to local and regional farmers interested in putting in vineyards, with a primary focus in the Appalachian Mountains. The Center services include:

  • Library of research data including local, regional and global information on growing grapes at higher elevations and on steep slopes. This library is the only U.S. source of information dedicated to mountain and steep slope viticulture.

  • Consultation on- and off-site with growers regarding site evaluation assistants, variety selection, and vineyard managment options.

  • English language translation of information-rich documents on mountain winegrowing that until now have only been available in foreign languages.

  • Wine marketing support

  • Global portal for the exhange of information on mountain and steep slope viticulture in North America.

  • Industry specific research including cold-climate viticulture, sustainable vineyard practices, steep slope managment issues, grape variety research, and cooperative winery development.

  • Support to local agricultural extension agents.
